| Tax compliance factsheets published |
A number of guides have been published that are designed to make complying with the UK's tax code more easy.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), which is behind the factsheets, hopes they will help provide more information about the existing framework for compliance checks.
They will explain each step of any potential compliance check and will also be distributed by an investigating officer in order to improve companies' understanding of the process and what their rights are.
The new compliance checks are part of cross-cutting legislation that has been introduced in order to make the tax system simpler and more consistent.
The new powers that have been introduced have consolidated existing rules regarding HMRC's rights to access business premises.
HMRC has recently revealed new regulations which require Stamp Duty Land Tax schemes where these are in-house, promoted outside the UK or where they are covered by legal professional privilege to provide details of these initiatives. |
