Delay in Companies Act 2006 implementation

The Government announced today (Wednesday, 7 November 2007) that implementation of the Companies Act 2006 is being delayed by one year, so that the final implementation date will be 1 October 2009 rather than 1 October 2008.

The reason given for the delay is to give Companies House more time to amend its systems and processes.

It is thought that some of the provisions of the Act which were due to come into force in 1 October 2008 will still be brought in on that date, particularly those which do not impact on the systems at Companies House. BERR will be seeking further views on this.

It is also thought that the April 2008 implementation will continue as planned.
